About PPI

The American Youth Congress is going on its 12th year in existence.  Helping students to understand the political process and experience direct civic engagement, the American Youth Congress brings together youth from across the Western North Carolina region to propose, debate, and vote on different pieces of legislation based upon their individual interests and personal passions.  Students are not only encouraged to talk to their local, state, and national officials, but a summary of their proposed legislation is also sent to the North Carolina General Assembly.
