February 16, 2012

Hello Everyone,
Today marks one month from the registration deadline and I wanted to let you know that sending your students’ names and legislation as early as possible would be great so we can prepare for lunch, space, presentations, and committee groups.

IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND PLEASE LET ME KNOW THROUGH EMAIL

ppi@email.wcu.edu

I hope to hear from you soon.

Your Packets

January 24, 2012

Packets have been sent to schools! If you have not received a packet, please let us know at ppi@email.wcu.edu.

I hope this finds you all well. Here at PPI, we have been working hard to make sure this year’s American Youth Congress goes great.

Good News Everyone!!!

January 10, 2012

I’m preparing the packets as I’m writing this; soon they will be sent out.

Currently, 4 schools have asked for registration packets: Robbinsville High School, Tri County Early College, Macon County Early College, and Hendersonville Middle School. While this is enough to do a Youth Congress, more are always welcome. Invite other teachers in your area or just encourage large groups of students from your school.

Be looking for those packets!

Welcome to the American Youth Congress 2012 Webpage

November 29, 2011

The American Youth Congress gives students in grades 6-12 the opportunity to present solutions to political issues in the form of simulated local, state, and federal legislation.  The focus of the Congress is to empower youth and give them a chance to debate and pass their proposed legislation.  While this past year’s Youth Congress was unable to meet, this year’s Congress has been scheduled to fit many of the area schools’ calendars.  On March 31, 2012, the American Youth Congress will meet at Western Carolina University’s University Center in the Grand Hall.  Seven awards will be given for individual and team performance.

Packets including participant instructions will be avaliable here and mailed in January, 2012.
